2013 Phoenix Suns 1

Anthony Randolph scored 15 points in a lackluster performance by the Denver Nuggets against the Phoenix Suns.  Suns’ point guard Eric Bledsoe led the Suns with 21 pts in a 98-79 win over the Nuggets on Wednesday at the Pepsi Center.

The Nuggets’ roster is decimated with injuries. Darrell Arthur (Quad), Kenneth Faried (Hamstring) Wilson Chandler (Hamstring), Danilo Gallinari (Knee) and Nate Robinson (Quad) all didn’t play against the Suns. Chandler has missed the entire preseason, and Faried will not play again until Oct. 30.

Coach Brian Shaw seemed somewhat worried about the injuries  in an interview he did with Clint Dempsey of the Denver Post this past week.

“I’m concerned,” Shaw said to Dempsey. “I’m sure part of it is we’ve had to stop-and-start. I’ve been doing a lot of teaching. So guys get warmed up, and they start going, and then we have to stop and make a teaching point or what have you, or introduce something new. Then they cool off, then get back on again. That’s always been a problem throughout time, trying to find a flow that once they get warm and get going they can just keep going.”

Last nights game was a disaster. Shaw was brutally honest in his press conference following the game.

The Nuggets have one last preseason game on Friday against Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls. This will be Robinson’s first visit back to Chicago since signing with the Nuggets this past summer.  He’s expected to play, but Chandler, Arthur and status’ are unknown.

On Oct. 30, the Nuggets will kick off the 2013-14 NBA regular season on the road with the Sacramento Kings.  It’s a fitting matchup, as first-year general manager Pete D’Alessandro worked for the Nuggets as assistant-gm last season.   Tim Connelly vs. D’Alessandro–let the games begin.
